Healthy Competition

The other day I was accused on social media for calling everything ‘copy paste’ the said person went ahead and told me that I should not be afraid of competition and hide in the terms copy paste’ that got me thinking.

First, to educate those who regardless of the free primary education are not able to spot difference? Those who were fortunate enough to go to a computer class know that ‘copy paste’ is a command where highlighted data is picked up from one place and dropped in the exact manner but at a different place. Now when I am quoted saying something is a copy paste it means the following, someone starting or doing something because someone else has been seen doing it. Enough of my concepts have been copy pasted and I stopped taking it personal and I now take it as flattery. How you implement, package and the reputation your brand has with other will make penetration of copy pasters hard or easy. The disadvantage of been the vision bearer is given the task at hand and no having enough muscle to do it all at once, one does it in bits. Copy pasters may not appreciate the small snail steps and will dive nose first into the matter wanting to make a few bucks. End result, they chew more that what they could swallow, this either kills them or they are forced to humbly exit, go back to the drawing board, the make an entrance. By this time, original vision bearer will have made great strides impossible to catch up.

People ought to know the difference between healthy competition and unhealthy competition. Simple example, we have to eat to be healthy. That said, eat junk every day. You are doing what was said eating, but is what you are eating healthy? In business same thing applies. A time comes when it is okay to introduce competition to bring about competitiveness with a ready market to be tapped on, a sharp mind will make profit but stupid minds will push sales not caring if any profit is been made and the end result, both players are will confuse the market because someone somewhere couldn’t be man enough to use an extra cell in their head to do something creative.

If only one person sells potatoes in a market, the person will make crazy profits and knowing the fact that they are the only supplies they can dictate the prices however they want and since you do not have a choice you will have to buy. What happens when someone else comes to the market and is selling potatoes? How will the person who was selling potatoes feel? She will feel bad and that is where price wars begin. Prices are cut drastically to beat the other supplier and the end result? In line with profits?

If someone would start selling potatoes same market because they have seen someone selling then that is copy pasting and unhealthy competition. However, If someone started selling potatoes not because person b is selling but because he sees an opportunity which person b is not utilizing then that will be healthy competition. Example, I start selling potatoes and at no extra cost I will peel them for you and even slice then and maybe even deliver to your house if you so wish.

I once met a man who told me, why work hard to have a big piece of a small cake and yet  you can have a small piece of a big cake? My thinking, why have a piece of the cake? Own the cake, then if someone else wants in, let them come on board and sort out say drinks. That way you will not use your saliva to swallow cake or use the other cake to swallow the other cake.
